Overview In this Tax Manager role, you will lead the tax function for a growing public accounting firm serving diverse clients. You'll supervise a team, oversee federal, state, local, and international filings, and provide strategic tax planning and guidance. Responsibilities- Oversee preparation, review and filing of federal, state, local and international tax returns for accuracy and compliance
- Lead and supervise a team of tax professionals; assign work, review deliverables, coach, and develop staff
- Manage multiple client engagements; be primary contact for tax planning, controversy, and audit support
- Conduct tax research and provide guidance on complex issues; apply current tax laws
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize liabilities aligned with business goals
- Coordinate with public accounting firms and external advisors for audits and due diligence
- Improve tax processes and leverage tax software and technology for efficiency
- Prepare and present tax analyses, forecasts and recommendations to leadership and clients
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, quality controls, and continuing education for the team
Key requirements- Minimum 5 years of tax experience with substantial public accounting background (Big Four or national/regional firms preferred)
- Technical expertise in corporate, partnership, trust/estate, and individual taxation; experience leading tax compliance and planning
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master's degree (MBA or MTax) highly desirable
- CPA licensure preferred; CMA or other credentials are a plus
- Proven supervisory experience and ability to lead and develop staff; experience managing teams
- Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present complex issues to clients and senior management
- Proficiency with tax software (CCH, UltraTax, Corptax) and Microsoft Excel; openness to new tax tech
