You will tackle issues around data, APIs, and vehicle telemetry to improve adoption, onboarding, and service quality. Responsibilities- Define engineering strategy, roadmap, and operating plan for Commercial OnStar products and Commercial APIs.
- Lead multiple engineering teams through managers and senior technical leaders with clear ownership and priorities.
- Improve customer adoption, retention, revenue, onboarding, API usage, data quality, and service reliability.
- Make data-driven tradeoffs, prioritize projects, and course-correct as needed.
- Ensure strong execution with urgency, iteration, consistency, and learning.
- Guide architecture, modernization, debt reduction, production readiness, observability, incident response, and SLOs.
- Foster partnerships across vehicle data, vehicle communications, middleware, security, privacy, onboarding, and billing teams.
- Represent Commercial Software Engineering in executive discussions and enterprise-level decisions.
- Attract, develop, and retain engineering leaders and build succession plans.
- Challenge the status quo with creative solutions in a fast-evolving software ecosystem.
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years in software engineering or related fields with large-scale delivery experience.
- 5+ years leading software engineering teams including managers and senior technical staff.
- Experience leading organizations of 30+ engineers with hiring, performance management, and org design.
- Proven ability to set strategy and deliver complex cross-functional platforms or customer-facing products on-time.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, mobile/web apps, software architecture, security, and service reliability.
- Experience with AI in developer lifecycle, business processes, and product development.
- Experience with production readiness, observability, incident management, and SLOs.
- Proven track record of hiring and retaining engineering managers and senior technical talent.
