Overview As Substation Physical Engineering Team Lead, you guide HDR's NC Power Delivery substation practice, shaping design & execution in a growth-focused environment. You lead a high-performing team, oversee technical projects, and drive proposals and technical strategy. You'll collaborate with client and operations leaders to deliver reliable, world-class substation solutions. This role offers impact across communities and the energy future through hands-on leadership and technical excellence.
Responsibilities- Manage and develop a high-performing substation physical engineering team
- Oversee technical execution of substation projects ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence
- Assist in proposal development including technical writing and project estimation
- Support strategic growth and technical expertise development for the Substation team
- Attend trainings to deepen technical leadership and innovation in the discipline
- Collaborate with Client Managers, Operational Managers, and Technical Leaders for integrated delivery
Key requirements- 10 years of substation design experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with an engineering consulting firm
- Experience managing commercial aspects of small to medium projects
- Experience building client relationships in the Carolinas
