Overview

In this Electrical Engineer role, you apply conventional design and analysis to water/wastewater projects, expanding your discipline knowledge and potentially branching into other areas. You will develop electrical design deliverables and support global design teams while focusing on continuous learning. You'll perform studies on energy optimization, power system coordination and arc flash, and assist with construction inspection. This position sits in Cary, NC, within BV Operations, offering mentoring and diverse, cross-functional collaboration to build a world of difference.

Responsibilities
  • Stay current with design guides, standards, codes, and B&V policies; apply knowledge to tasks
  • Develop increasingly complex engineering deliverables and calculations
  • Conduct equipment/materials selection research and data management for engineering work
  • Adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements; resolve problems within area
  • Provide guidance to entry-level professionals and interns; mentor as skills develop
  • Coordinate with project leadership and internal/external teams on projects
  • Engage with clients to understand drivers and needs; support business development if needed
  • Share knowledge of latest technology and processes and participate in performance management when applicable
  • Assist with project planning and execution, including mentorship and coordination with other disciplines
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred)
  • 3+ years in electrical design, planning and construction in Water/Wastewater
  • Power system analysis experience (SKM, ETAP, or similar)
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; pursuing PE license preferred
  • Consulting and Water/Wastewater experience advantageous
  • Ability to participate in pre-employment checks as required
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Mentoring and leadership of entry-level staff
  • Collaborative teamwork across cross-functional teams
  • Electrical design for water/wastewater projects
  • One-line diagrams, schematics, power/lighting plans
  • Electrical installation details and technical specifications
