Overview In this role, you contribute to major regional transportation projects in North Carolina, supporting both traditional and design-build approaches. You'll work with a multi-disciplinary, cross-office team to deliver roadway design, field investigations, and related civil work. The position offers remote or office-based options in Charlotte or Raleigh, with a focus on impactful infrastructure that enhances mobility and resiliency. You will help shape design standards and project execution while growing your engineering career. Responsibilities- Perform field investigations, roadway/highway design, grading and drainage, utilities, green infrastructure, work zone traffic control, site layout, and other transportation engineering duties
- Develop civil/highway design plans, profiles, sections, and details using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, specifications, and other contract documents
- Support multi-disciplinary design development teams for project execution
- Provide support for other engineering activities as required
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of related work experience
- NCDOT civil/highway experience preferred
- Familiarity with NCDOT standards and specifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation; working knowledge of other engineering PC software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
