Overview In this role you lead SpaceX's Fire Safety & Emergency Response EHS engineering team to strengthen fire protection, emergency preparedness, and risk management across facilities. You influence design, operations, and compliance to reduce incident exposure and boost safety readiness. You will drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and facilities to embed life-safety throughout projects and lifecycle. Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day management of the Fire Safety & Emergency Response Engineering team, including performance management and hiring
- Oversee budgets for Fire Safety & Emergency Response programs
- Develop engineering-based safety solutions to reduce incidents and enhance emergency response
- Interpret new fire safety regulations and provide guidance to management and engineering teams
- Provide training and technical guidance on risk assessments, ITM procedures, PHAs/HAZOPs, JHAs, safe work procedures, and drills
- Lead multidisciplinary reviews to drive EHS performance across disciplines
- Conduct fire safety engineering compliance audits, risk assessments, and process safety analyses focused on fire/explosion
- Oversee ITM of fire protection and life-safety systems and collaborate with cross-functional partners
- Lead fire safety-in-design specifications for equipment, facilities, and processes
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 5+ years in design, development, and oversight of EHS programs with emphasis on fire safety and emergency response
- 3+ years leadership experience managing technical teams
- Strong knowledge of fire protection system design, ITM, risk assessment, PHAs/HAZOPs, and emergency planning
- Experience with NFPA, OSHA, IFC/IBC, ANSI standards and regulatory interpretation
- Ability to review engineering drawings and identify fire safety-in-design opportunities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Professional certifications such as CFPS, CSP, CEM, PE (Fire Protection) preferred
