State & Local Tax Senior, Sales/Use

In this role you help mid-market and Fortune 500 clients navigate state and local tax issues, delivering compliance and advisory services. You'll work with firm leadership and cross-functional teams to solve complex multi-state challenges, from nexus to filing positions. You will build technical state tax expertise and translate insights for clients and teams, contributing to a fast-growing SALT practice. This is a collaborative opportunity that supports growth, balance, and client service at scale.

• Assist clients with state income/franchise, sales taxes, M&A, nexus considerations, and filing positions.
• Conduct technical research on complex state tax laws and regulations, including legislative and case law changes.
• Analyze client data to identify filing obligations, exposures, and planning opportunities.
• Support clients in state tax audits, notices, and controversy matters.
• Maintain strong internal relationships across service lines and engagement teams.
• Develop technical expertise in state tax and communicate insights to clients and internal teams.
• Manage multiple client projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment, ensuring accuracy and quality.
• Participate in mentoring, coaching, and learning initiatives to support ongoing development.
• Contribute to business development and relationship-building efforts internally and externally.

• 4 year degree, license eligible
• 1 year of professional experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in public accounting or industry with focus on multi-state income and franchise tax compliance and consulting
• Strong skills in time management, communication, analytical thinking, and client service
• Ability to manage complex projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate effectively across teams
• Credential such as CPA, enrolled agent, or IPT certification (active or in progress)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with tax compliance software is a plus
