Employment Law Compliance Counsel

Overview

In this role you will conduct independent employment law investigations and support agency proceedings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws. You will partner with legal, HR, and business areas to analyze findings, identify trends, and implement corrective actions. Your work helps mitigate risk and shape the company's approach to workplace compliance. The position offers opportunities to influence employment practices across the enterprise and engage with external agencies and litigation teams.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct impartial, timely investigations of complaints covering discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and related compliance areas
  • Prepare fair, well-documented investigative reports and summaries
  • Respond to agency charges and support litigation when needed
  • Draft Position Statements for external review
  • Present findings to discipline review committees and liaise with HR and Business Area leads
  • Track and centralize employment law investigations and inquiries across the enterprise
  • Assist in responding to external inquiries and charges related to employment law compliance
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to inform trends and risk mitigation
  • Support training initiatives on employment compliance topics
  • Travel as required
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from ABA-accredited institution
  • Active state bar membership
  • Experience supporting employers in administrative agency proceedings or courts on employment law matters
  • Knowledge of investigation and research methods, interviewing, record-keeping, and data collection
  • Familiarity with discrimination, harassment, retaliation laws and related court decisions
  • Experience conducting internal or external employment law investigations
  • Experience drafting investigative reports with documentation
  • Ability to safeguard confidential information and perform detailed, accurate work
  • Willingness to travel

  • Investigation and data analysis
  • Experience with case management systems (e.g., COMET)
  • Familiarity with AI tools relating to legal analysis
