Overview As a Quality Engineer, you will drive warranty reduction and product improvements by translating field learnings into design and process enhancements. You'll work across PMO, Engineering, Test Lab, Quality, Sales, and Field Service to monitor warranty performance and implement lasting corrective actions. The role blends strategic quality planning with hands-on failure analysis and containment, supporting cross-functional problem solving. You will lead structured root-cause investigations and develop CTQs, dashboards, and risk visibility to inform decisions. This is a hands-on, impact-focused position with significant field interaction and travel.
Responsibilities- Monitor end-to-end warranty process from claim validation to cost tracking
- Analyze warranty trends to identify systemic issues
- Lead containment and corrective actions for permanent fixes
- Conduct teardown analysis and field failure evaluations
- Lead contract and project risk reviews using warranty data
- Identify historical failure risks related to design, materials, and application
- Develop project-specific quality plans and CTQ requirements
- Lead cross-functional initiatives for warranty reduction and product improvement
- Coordinate with PMO, Engineering, Test Lab, Quality, and Sales
- Lead structured problem-solving activities (8D, 3L5 Why, Affinity Brainstorming)
- Ensure corrective actions are closed and validated for effectiveness
- Serve as technical liaison for customers and field service, including on-site support
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools for warranty trends and project risk
- Travel up to 40%
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
- 3-7 years of related experience
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent preferred
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, weldments, and fabrication processes
- Experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation techniques
- Proficiency with quality tools (8D, A3, CAPA, PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, Inspection Plans)
- Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Excel
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Mechanical aptitude for assembly/disassembly per drawings
- Experience in a PMO environment (CAPM or equivalent preferred)
- Experience with data/statistical tools (Minitab, SAS JMP, Excel macros, Power BI) preferred
