Overview

As Architect for Stantec's Healthcare practice, you guide design teams through all project phases, balancing function, aesthetics, and client program. You collaborate with PMs, Design Leaders, and coordinators to deliver complex healthcare projects from pre-design through construction. Your work combines BIM-enabled design with sustainable principles to meet budget and schedule. You'll engage with consultants, contractors, and owners to ensure design intent and constructability. This role offers impact at scale within a collaborative, innovation-driven firm focused on healthier, better-built environments.

Responsibilities
  • Lead projects of varying size and complexity within healthcare and institutions
  • Inspire creativity and design excellence across the team and external stakeholders
  • Conceptualize building design aligning with client requirements, budget, and program
  • Develop designs using sketches, models, diagrams, and BIM to communicate intent
  • Utilize BIM for 3D models of buildings and components
  • Participate in design critiques and constructability reviews
  • Present designs alongside PMs and Design Architects to stakeholders
  • Develop design within cost parameters and space planning with adjacency diagrams
  • Evaluate and select building systems/materials and ensure compatibility with design intent
  • Implement sustainable design principles and analyze site conditions
  • Contribute to program development and pre-design efforts
  • Maintain design intent through documentation and construction
  • Lead and mentor design teams, check work for accuracy, and manage budgets/schedules
  • Interpret drawings, codes, and programs; apply accessibility and life-safety codes
  • Deliver design and documentation within a collaborative BIM strategy
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Architecture or related field
  • Licensed Architect in California
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, preferably on large healthcare/institutional teams
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred
  • Healthcare (OSHPD/HCAI) experience is desired
