Overview

In this role you lead electrical design for building projects within Stantec's Buildings practice, balancing hands-on delivery with client support and mentorship. You'll coordinate multi-disciplinary work, ensure regulatory compliance, and push for innovative, sustainable solutions. The position strengthens client relationships and contributes to Stantec's regional presence in Southern California. You'll shape project outcomes by driving technical excellence and design integration across teams.

Responsibilities
  • Support business development with technical input aligned to studio and firm strategy.
  • Lead electrical delivery from planning through construction, with accountability for quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Design electrical systems for commercial facilities (power, lighting, fire alarm) in line with relevant codes.
  • Develop and coordinate electrical models/drawings using Revit and BIM workflows.
  • Coordinate with owners, developers, contractors and authorities to define scope and deliverables.
  • Review calculations, drawings, specs, and reports for technical quality and constructability.
  • Mentor junior staff and guide teams toward technical excellence and accountability.
  • Stay current with regulations, technologies, and best practices and integrate into standards.
Key requirements
  • 6+ years of electrical engineering design experience for diverse facilities.
  • Experience leading design work and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and internal teams.
  • Proactive, collaborative, inclusive mindset.
  • Strong knowledge of California codes and standards (Electrical Code, CALGreen, Building Energy Standards, UL, NFPA, IEEE).
  • PE license in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Experience with Lean/IPD, Design Build, or Design Assist is a plus.
