Overview In this role you oversee manufacturing operations, drive cost reductions, and apply Lean Manufacturing to ensure safe, quality production that meets specifications and customer expectations. You will lead and coach teams, develop problem-solvers, and coordinate with cross-functional partners to optimize performance. The position centers on continuous improvement, workforce development, and sustaining a lean culture aligned with the company's mission. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong analytical and people-skills to manage priorities and scale operations.
Responsibilities- Coach and develop production staff and hourly team members; oversee staffing and scheduling changes
- Identify training needs and implement programs to close gaps
- Conduct performance appraisals and monitor staff development
- Coordinate with departments to maintain a collaborative, team-building environment
- Develop teams using COS lean tools and methodologies to solve problems
- Interface with cross-functional teams to ensure resources and process flow are optimized
- Manage production processes, cost structures, and quality assurance practices
- Support salary administration, payroll procedures, and workplace safety compliance
Key requirements- 5-7 years of production management experience in manufacturing
- Six Sigma and Lean background is a plus
- Experience collaborating with varied personnel levels and multi-project prioritization
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, FLSA, ADA, Workmen's Comp, unemployment, FMLA
- Strong knowledge of SPC, quality systems, and production analytics
- Experience with SAP, SFIS, or Wonderware is a plus
- Associates Degree or equivalent manufacturing experience
