Overview

In this role you will lead Brex's Regulatory Affairs, shaping interactions with federal and state regulators to ensure timely, compliant operations. You'll own the end-to-end regulatory engagement lifecycle, coordinate across Legal, Compliance, Risk, and business teams, and align with Capital One on joint regulatory workstreams. You'll translate regulatory trends into practical guidance for senior leadership, driving proactive governance in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This is a strategic, cross-functional role that combines program management with regulatory expertise to support Brex's growth.

Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships with federal and state regulators and supervisory staff
  • Lead preparation and execution of regulatory exams and supervisory engagements, including logistics and information requests
  • Build and run scalable regulatory commitments programs with ownership, milestones, evidence, and closure
  • Identify risk areas and advise on corrective actions with monitored remediation
  • Provide strategic advisory support to senior management and the board on regulatory matters
  • Synthesize external regulatory trends and communicate focus areas to internal teams
  • Collaborate with Capital One Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and Risk on integration-related workstreams
  • Develop processes, playbooks, and reporting to give leadership clear view of regulatory posture
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in good standing in at least one US state
  • 8+ years in banking, financial services, risk management, audit, consulting, or regulatory agencies, or combination
  • 5+ years working with banking regulators (e.g., OCC, Fed, FDIC, state agencies) and regulatory policy, including exam management
  • Experience supporting integrated projects with senior leaders and external stakeholders with PMO discipline
  • Working knowledge of commercial financial products and related regulatory frameworks
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and consensus-building skills
  • Ability to lead with empathy and adapt in a dynamic environment
