Overview In this role you will lead strategic state and local tax engagements for middle market and Fortune 500 clients, guiding compliance and consulting to reduce tax burdens. You will work within a growing SALT practice to deliver multi-state reviews, nexus determinations, and planning that adds value. You'll mentor staff, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help shape a fast-growing, entrepreneurial SALT advisory culture. Responsibilities- Provide strategic SALT compliance and consulting to clients to optimize tax outcomes
- Manage multi-state reviews covering income, franchise, sales and use, and other taxes to identify exemptions, credits, and favorable structures
- Research SALT issues including nexus, taxability, and liabilities; draft rulings and guidance
- Counsel on controversies, audits, notices, and voluntary disclosures; prepare ruling requests
- Plan and execute tax projects (due diligence, voluntary disclosures) with broad scope
- Prepare technical memos on SALT issues for various business entities
- Maintain proactive client communication; suggest business/process improvements
- Mentor staff and seniors on engagements, manage staffing and profitability targets
- Develop internal and external relationships, leveraging entrepreneurial mindset
- Contribute to professional development initiatives and firm-wide learning programs
Key requirements- 4-year degree
- CPA or Law License required
- 8+ years SALT experience in a professional services environment
- 2+ years supervisory/mentoring experience
- Strong client service orientation and ability to manage complex engagements
- Ability to lead and supervise teams, uphold ethics and quality, and manage deadlines
