Overview

As Engineering Manager on the Compensation Planning team, you lead the engineering effort behind core workflows used by finance and HR teams to design, model, and run compensation processes at scale. You partner with Product and Design to shape the roadmap and ensure accurate, auditable pay calculations for companies with large workforces. You'll coach engineers, drive the technical roadmap, and translate complex compensation requirements into reliable solutions. This role combines people leadership with hands-on technical impact to support Pave's mission of building confidence in every compensation decision.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow an engineering team building core planning and recommendation workflows
  • Review designs and contribute to implementation details when needed
  • Drive the technical roadmap to scale support for 150,000+ employees
  • Collaborate with Product and Design to translate compensation requirements into technical specs
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of planning calculations with direct financial impact
  • Align with other teams to reuse components and data models
  • Communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Coach and mentor the team with regular feedback
Key requirements
  • 7+ years of industry experience
  • 2+ years of management experience on high-performing teams
  • Comfort with technical detail and challenging designs
  • Proven ability to lead large technical projects spanning multiple quarters
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and take initiative
  • Nice to have: experience with B2B SaaS and/or financial systems where calculation accuracy is critical
