Overview

As a Field Process Engineer at Lam, you bring deep expertise in metals deposition and thin-film processes to support customers across installations and upgrades. You will drive process optimization, experimentation, and documentation while collaborating with product groups and customers to address design improvements. Your work directly impacts customer satisfaction through hands-on field support, training, and issue resolution. This role offers the opportunity to shape process development and deliver measurable performance gains in a customers-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide process support, installation, and ongoing optimization of Lam equipment at customer sites
  • Lead experiments, data collection, analysis, and reporting to improve device architecture and process modules
  • Partner with customers to define requirements for new technology processes and address deviations via root cause analysis
  • Develop new or modified processes and define best-known-method recipes; coordinate with hardware engineering on chamber requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs, technology roadmaps, and business challenges
  • Present technical and marketing materials to keep customers informed and engaged
  • Interface with customer management and lead regular/ad hoc meetings to ensure alignment
  • Provide technical leadership and training for Field Service Engineers, Technicians, and sub-contractors
  • Coordinate statistical analysis of failure rates and implement continuous improvement plans (CIP)
  • Recommend design changes to solutions and monitor performance trends
  • Maintain recognized expertise in systems and applications within Lam
Key requirements
  • PhD in Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or related field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience; or Master's with 8+ years; or Bachelor's with 12+ years; or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve moderately complex process issues using engineering methods and data analysis
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support customer-facing activities
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and participate in on-call support
