Overview As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will support CTDOT, Turnpike, and Transit projects by inspecting contractor work and traffic control to ensure adherence to plans and specs. You will partner with the project Resident Engineer to manage administration, daily reporting, and quantity calculations. The role involves hands-on field inspection, materials sampling, and in-place density testing of asphalt or soil. This is a performance-driven position with exposure to outdoor work and field testing, contributing to safe, compliant, and high-quality transportation construction. Responsibilities- Assist the project Resident Engineer with project administration
- Prepare daily reports, quantities, and construction observation reports
- Conduct daily construction inspections of activities
- Collect material samples and perform field testing (concrete per ASTM procedures)
- Operate field testing equipment for in-place density testing of asphalt and/or soil
Key requirements- BS in Civil Engineering or 4 years of related experience with NICET II
- Valid driver's license
- Prior construction inspection experience
- Ability to work outdoors and comply with contractor hours (including nights/weekends)
- One or more current certifications: ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector and/or Concrete Field Testing Technician; Asphalt Technician Certification (preferred); NETTCP HMA Plant Technician; NICET II; OSHA 10
