Overview In this role you join the J.B. Hunt Transport Department in the Walton College of Business as a non-tenure-track research faculty member focused on contested logistics and defense-relevant supply chain research. You will lead industry-engaged, applied research and translate findings for practitioners, while collaborating with faculty and external partners. The position emphasizes engaging with the Contested Logistics Consortium and research centers to address real-world logistics challenges for defense and public-sector stakeholders. You will contribute to teaching, outreach, and thought leadership to advance the department's and college's research mission.

Responsibilities- Conduct industry-engaged, applied research addressable to managers and policymakers
- Translate research into practitioner publications, briefs, and executive insights
- Develop externally sponsored research funding and partnerships
- Engage with external partners (corporate, public-sector, defense) and manage research translation
- Contribute to teaching and department life, including on-campus activities
- Collaborate with tenure-track faculty, research centers, and doctoral students
- Support externally funded research projects aligning with defense logistics priorities
- Produce diverse research outputs (white papers, case studies, industry reports, executive briefs)
Key requirements- Doctoral degree by start date
- Proven ability to conduct high-quality research in SCM, logistics, operations, analytics
- U.S. citizenship due to access to export-controlled information
- Record of developing externally funded research or strong military/defense logistics leadership
- Strong written and oral communication, with ability to engage practitioner audiences
