Overview As Engineering Manager, you lead and grow a small engineering team focused on observability and evaluation for AI voice agents. You will shape tooling and frameworks to measure and improve agent quality at scale, and ensure reliable integrations with internal and external systems. You'll stay hands-on in Python while driving cross-functional collaboration to deliver the Copilot product and other customer-centric initiatives. This role blends leadership with technical delivery in a fast-moving startup environment.

Responsibilities- Lead and grow a 3-5 engineer team; set expectations, mentor, and uphold a strong hiring bar
- Own the observability and evaluation roadmap; build tooling to surface agent performance and quality signals
- Contribute hands-on by debugging production issues in Python as needed
- Collaborate with product teams to translate quality signals into actionable metrics and tooling
- Own reliability and scalability of integrations to connect systems as the business scales
- Support the Copilot product roadmap in collaboration with Product
- Remove blockers and improve cross-functional processes; participate in hiring activities
- Active involvement in sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding engineers
Key requirements- 6+ years in a relevant engineering role
- 1-3 years of experience managing a team
- Hands-on with Python and TypeScript; capable of senior-level coding
- Solid experience with AWS (Lambda, SQS) and streaming systems (Kinesis)
- Comfort with ambiguity in observability and evaluation tooling for AI agents
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
