Overview In this role you lead technical initiatives in a plant support and R&D setting to ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective operations. You work with cross functional teams to drive process improvements, capital projects, and compliant production practices. You will manage projects up to $6 million, implement advanced controls and procedures, and align with safety and quality standards. Your work shapes production efficiency, product quality, and regulatory compliance while collaborating across sales, manufacturing, engineering, QA, R&D, and supply chain.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage capital projects up to $6M within a cross functional team
- Implement process control, HMI, and operational best practices
- Develop operating methods to improve quality, cost, and safety
- Design and optimize production lines and processes for efficiency
- Plan, execute, and track projects to meet budgets and schedules
- Promote OSHA safety compliance and FSMA/SQF/FDA adherence where applicable
- Coordinate technical information flow with customers and internal teams
- Prepare quotations and cost information from multiple internal sources
- Oversee design drawings, specs, and construction cost estimates
- Monitor project progress and contract compliance
- Manage WIP, invoicing, and accounts receivable related to projects
- Apply project management principles and handle scope changes
- Prepare technical documentation and specs for engineered systems or equipment
- Support external supplier follow ups and timely action item responses
- Ensure accurate financial representation for closing processes
- Foster cross department collaboration to identify improvement opportunities
- Travel as needed and work weekends/extened hours to support project needs
Key requirements- 4+ years of operations experience in food, beverage, or chemical production
- BA/BS in chemical or food engineering
- Experience with micro sensitive products in FDA/USDA environments preferred
- Experience in thermal processing of liquids (hot fill, aseptic), evaporation/concentration, aroma systems
- Knowledge of food science-related design engineering, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, sanitary piping, and P&ID
- Working knowledge of process controls and instrumentation
- Bev manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficiency with Windows apps (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
- Ability to collaborate across multiple departments
