Overview In this role you design world-class power converter packaging and components for Joby's propulsion power electronics. You will work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team to model, analyze, test, and validate mechanical aspects of electronics packaging, thermal management, and structural integrity. You'll apply first-principles thinking to solve complex problems and bring designs from concept to production. This position offers impact on certification, manufacturing scale, and the company's path to commercial service.

Responsibilities- Model and design components/assemblies using 3D CAD (Catia)
- Perform thermal (CFD), structural (FEA), and DFA/DFT analyses to optimize designs
- Solve packaging challenges: thermal management, electrical isolation, sealing, interconnection, vibration, EMI
- Prototype builds, fabricate components, and design test fixtures for validation
- Run validation tests, analyze lab data, identify root causes, and implement improvements
- Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, controls, vendors, and test engineers to move designs to production
Key requirements- B.S. or higher in mechanical engineering
- 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably full-stack with test, design, selection, hands-on builds, bring-up, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably Catia 3D Experience
- Strong mechanical design, materials selection, kinematics, troubleshooting, and analysis
