Overview As an Electrical Engineer in AECOM's US Energy Practice, you contribute to renewable energy projects nationwide, focusing on solar PV and battery storage systems. You will partner with project teams to design, model, and interconnect systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale deployments. You'll develop cost estimates, specifications, and engineering calculations, supporting projects from feasibility through commissioning. Responsibilities- Perform electrical engineering design on assigned projects under supervision
- Collaborate with Project Engineer/Project Manager to define schedules and budgets
- Design PV and BESS systems including layouts, DC sizing, interconnections (rooftop, carport, ground-mount)
- Model energy production for PV and BESS systems
- Develop construction and equipment specifications
- Carry out engineering calculations (NEC voltage, conductor sizing, protection, voltage drop)
- Develop construction drawings (one-lines, network diagrams)
- Estimate costs and evaluate payback for PV/BESS systems
- Design DC and low-to-medium voltage power distribution
- Support full project life cycle from feasibility to commissioning
- Participate in and present at meetings, with some travel required
Key requirements- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- Demonstrated design and integration experience with utility-scale renewables and battery storage
- Preferred PE license and ability to attain more states by comity
- 8+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Proficiency in Homer, NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope
- MV AC collection system design experience
- Protection and controls experience
- Knowledge of ETAP and/or SKM for power system modeling
- Strong familiarity with NEC, plus IBC and NFPA 855
- Familiarity with utility practices and codes (NESC, IEEE, PIP)
- Strong written and verbal skills with ability to lead engineering tasks
- Experience on full EPC/Design-Build projects
- Capability in system financial estimation (Capex, Opex), PPA ROI
- Special design experience: floating PV, fuel cells, agrivoltaics, supercapacitors
