Overview As a subject matter expert and compliance lead for inverter-based resources, you will drive IBR performance analysis and alignment with NERC standards across wind, solar, and storage assets. You will develop scalable analytics, automation, and AI-assisted tools to improve event assessment and fleet reliability, collaborating with operations, controls, and compliance teams. You will lead audits, investigations, and implementation of PRC-028/029/030 while shaping future-state data management and performance evaluation capabilities. This role offers impact on reliability and engineering excellence at scale within NextEra's renewable fleet.
Responsibilities- Serve as SME for IBR performance, disturbance analysis, and NERC PRC standards
- Evaluate ride-through performance using DFR, COMTRADE, inverter logs, and monitoring data
- Validate protection, relay, inverter, and plant controller settings for reliability and conformance
- Support investigations of generation events and misoperations; develop corrective actions
- Lead development of disturbance monitoring and data acquisition capabilities
- Develop analytical tools, dashboards, and automated workflows for event investigations
- Automate data collection/organization/analysis across DFR, inverter, historian, event logs, and disturbances
- Collaborate with engineering, data science, and software teams to deploy AI-assisted solutions
- Lead audits and technical assessments of IBR performance and reliability
- Drive continuous improvement across the renewable fleet
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in engineering or PE license equivalent
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of NERC PRC standards applicable to generation and IBRs
- Experience analyzing disturbance events using COMTRADE, DFR, oscillography, inverter logs, and protection data
- Experience developing engineering processes, tools, or data-driven investigations
- Working knowledge of Python, Power BI, MS Copilot, AI analytics tools
- Familiarity with power system modeling/analysis tools (ASPEN, CAPE, PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD)
