Civil/Structural Engineering Team Lead (Truss)

Overview

In this Engineering Team Lead role, you guide a team of civil engineers and designers to deliver safe, economical truss components and reliable engineering drawings. You set direction, balance workload, and ensure high-quality outcomes while collaborating with the software group to improve modeling and workflows. You mentor engineers, elevate standards, and provide practical, customer-focused solutions for field and design challenges. This role blends people leadership with hands-on technical impact in the construction components space.

Responsibilities
  • Direct, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and designers to build expertise and continuous learning
  • Forecast and distribute workload to meet customer turnaround commitments with high quality
  • Conduct performance assessments and create growth opportunities for team members
  • Produce and review complex truss component designs, repair details, and drawings
  • Re-evaluate components for safe, economical, and practical solutions
  • Provide technical consultation to customers and internal teams for design improvements
  • Conduct onsite inspections to assess structural concerns and repair strategies
  • Partner with sales teams to communicate findings and maintain professional customer relationships
  • Train new engineers to ensure consistency with Alpine's engineering principles
  • Represent engineering in technical presentations and cross-functional meetings
  • Provide input to software development to improve modeling, workflows, and UX
Key requirements
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field emphasizing statics and material mechanics
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required
  • Preferred: experience with truss engineering, component design, or drafting for building components
  • Working knowledge of TPI, NDS, ASCE 7 and other codes a plus
  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with design software tools
