Overview

In this role you will provide legal guidance on broker-dealer and bank services across institutional trading, origination, ETFs, and municipal offerings, including outsourced trading. You will advise business, Credit, Risk and Compliance on legal, regulatory and reputational issues arising from fixed income and equity activities. You will help assess new markets, products, and strategic initiatives, working closely with internal clients. You will draft, review, and negotiate contracts, monitor proposed regulations, and manage outside counsel on initiatives. You will maintain awareness of global regulatory developments and support the team in a busy environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on broker-dealer and bank services including institutional trading and origination activities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal contracts and documents
  • Advise on regulatory, legal, and reputational issues for fixed income and equities businesses
  • Monitor and interpret proposed regulations and their business applications
  • Manage retention of outside counsel for initiatives
  • Stay informed on global regulatory developments and legal trends
  • Work closely with internal clients across business, Credit, Risk and Compliance
  • Advise on new markets, products, and strategic business initiatives
Key requirements
  • JD with NY Bar admission
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in law firm and/or large financial institution covering fixed income and equity sales and trading
  • Knowledge of regulatory issues impacting institutional sales, trading, and capital markets
  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice in a busy environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
