Overview In this role you will contribute to structural design and analysis for residential, institutional, and commercial projects within the Property and Buildings Team. You'll collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients while advancing structural retrofitting, resiliency assessments, and advanced modeling. You will help deliver high-quality, compliant solutions on schedule and mentor junior engineers. Responsibilities- Perform structural engineering design for concrete, CMU, steel, light-frame wood, and mass timber structures
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and clients; manage projects and supervise junior engineers
- Develop retrofitting and resiliency assessment solutions
- Apply advanced modeling and design standards to ensure safety and functionality
- Prepare data visualizations, reports, sketches, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations
- Maintain quality control and accurate measurements, analysis, and reporting
- Assist in scoping and development of small- to mid-sized projects
- Prepare technical reports and presentations communicating findings and recommendations
- Conduct site investigations and provide input for action plans on risk mitigation
- Collaborate with engineers and authorities on federal, state, and local projects
- Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and company policies
- Support HASPs and health and safety planning
Key requirements- Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of post-education experience in structural or civil design
- Engineer in Training Certification
- Knowledge of seismic design, ductility, and materials behavior
- Basic knowledge of linear and nonlinear finite element analysis and performance-based design
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management
- Ability to coordinate with regulatory authorities
- Knowledge of sustainability concepts and hazardous substance/greenhouse gas reduction
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with technical writing, software, math, and predictive modeling tools
- Active involvement in local professional practice organizations
- Experience with discipline-specific design software (ETABS, RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, SAP, Perform3D, spSlab, spColumn, VisualAnalysis, Revit, AutoCAD)
