Overview In this role you will provide system design and safety oversight for DOE-EM Hanford field office projects, ensuring safe designs, compliant operations, and progress toward cleanup objectives. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to review systems, manage risk, and coordinate evaluation activities across engineering disciplines. The position combines field oversight with on-site collaboration at Hanford and with federal programs, offering exposure to high-stakes environmental remediation. Responsibilities- Conduct independent system reviews and track issues, coordinating evaluation teams and reporting results
- Provide multidisciplinary engineering oversight across civil/structural, mechanical/electrical, fire protection, instrumentation and control, environmental, chemical, and nuclear disciplines
- Support operations oversight including commissioning, deactivation and decommissioning, and environmental remediation (soil, groundwater, waste, nuclear material handling)
- Publish oversight plans with risk-based prioritization and manage related documentation
- Support on-site field engineering management and construction compliance for Hanford Field Office
- Coordinate travel and ensure security clearances for personnel and contractors
- Operate primarily on-site at Hanford with possible remote support as approved by CO
- Navigate government-furnished resources and ensure alignment with DOE requirements
Key requirements- 8-12+ years engineering/safety oversight experience; DOE nuclear experience preferred
- BS Engineering; PE or advanced credentials desirable
- Experience in system design, safety oversight, and risk-based prioritization
- Knowledge of DOE oversight practices, field validation, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to perform in a high-stakes, regulated environment and manage multiple priorities
