Overview As a Fire Protection Engineer at Jacobs, you lead and deliver fire protection design deliverables within a multi-disciplinary team for federal facilities. You own scope, budget, and schedule, guiding junior staff and ensuring quality. You will work on systems including sprinklers, suppression, alarms, and life safety code analysis for DoD and other government projects. This hybrid role blends studio collaboration with field and construction support, contributing to Jacobs' safety-first mission and federal portfolio. You will shape safe, compliant designs that support mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities- Serve as Designer of Record for fire protection designs, manage schedule and budget, delegate work, and seal construction drawings and specs
- Gather stakeholder information, perform calculations, and develop rough layouts
- Present findings to clients and stakeholders
- Execute high-level design tasks under defined standards and codes
- Research products and assist with material selection and system research
- Design fire sprinkler, suppression, and fire alarm layouts using hydraulic calculations and relevant codes
- Support construction administration and field investigations, including RFI and Change Order processing
- Provide staffing development and mentoring for junior staff and ensure quality delivery
Key requirements- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Safety Technology or related field
- At least 4 years of Fire Protection design experience
- Proficiency in REVIT
- Desirable: DoD experience, UFC knowledge, DBIA certification, security clearance or ability to obtain one, PE license in any U.S. state
