Overview In this role you lead the Interior Engineering Designers and Design TSs within the IPFC group to deliver vehicle interior design deliverables. You will staff, coach, and unblock the team while guiding technical solutions for programs. You will shape processes and standards that impact the business, promoting GM values and customer-focused decisions. You'll influence cross-functional partners and ensure successful execution of vehicle programs, with a focus on interior seating and trim design in a hybrid work setting.
Responsibilities- Provide strong technical leadership and drive successful execution of vehicle programs with robust interior design solutions
- Staff, train, prioritize work, and remove roadblocks for direct reports
- Lead group meetings, communicate policies and safety messages, and present initiatives aligned with business plans
- Develop and implement processes, standards, or operational plans to support business strategies
- Identify, assign, and manage workload; set priorities for individuals and the group
- Review and approve work, overtime, and related data; monitor performance and provide feedback
- Participate in compensation planning and recognition activities
- Remove roadblocks and resolve issues to maintain project momentum
- Mentor and develop team members, supporting career goals and training aspirations
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology
- 8+ years in Design with leadership experience
- Experience in product development and design/release activities
- Strong knowledge of engineering systems and processes (e.g., GxDP, GSTS, VIS Mock-up, GPDS, GD&T, Global BOM)
- Ability to propose technical alternatives to balance priorities
- Experience leading teams and mentoring others
- Broad understanding of administrative and engineering tools used by the team and cross-functional partners
