Associate Director of Litigation Marketing - Business Litigation

Overview

In this role you will shape and lead the business-unit marketing strategy for Cooley's Litigation Practice, partnering with the Marketing & Client Development organization to translate commercial objectives into actionable plans. You will guide audience insights, personalize messaging, and drive practice-building initiatives across cross-functional teams. Your leadership will influence high-stakes pitches, budgets, and storytelling to support growth and client development. This is a strategic, client-facing role that blends marketing, analytics, and leadership to advance the firm's business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Translate practice marketing plans into briefs for Campaign Strategy and engineer customer journeys to deliver BU outcomes
  • Consult on buyer profiles and influencers to build segmentation logic for the practice
  • Direct the strategy for practice-building initiatives and ensure materials reflect market trends
  • Collaborate with leaders across MCD to align BU priorities with enterprise roadmaps and channel strategies
  • Define personalization triggers and content requirements for practice-level messaging
  • Oversee BU marketing budget and ROI assessment of sponsorships and spend
  • Lead strategy and narrative development for complex pitches and proposals with Client Development and Pursuits & Proposals
  • Interpret dashboard data with Insights & Optimization to recommend strategic marketing shifts
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports; manage staffing, time logs, and compliance
  • Participate in hiring, performance reviews, and employee lifecycle processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing or business development (4+ years in management, senior level preferred)
  • Prior professional services and/or B2B marketing experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended hours, travel as required
