Overview As a Controls Engineer, you help deliver automation solutions across capital projects for leading manufacturers. Responsibilities- Develop automation solutions and participate in design, software configuration, testing, commissioning, and startup of automated processes
- Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements
- Diagnose automation problems and interface with teams, clients, and vendors
- Configure software and hardware packages per client specifications
- Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell) and HMI/SCADA (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition)
- Manage engineering projects and deliverables to schedule and scope
- Oversee site construction, installation, and startup support of integrated control systems
- Validate and commission facility systems following execution protocols and hand over to customers
- Maintain clear plan communication to project stakeholders
- Support ongoing client relationships with day-to-day technical expertise
Key requirements- Proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and high-intensity environments
- At least five years of direct controls engineering experience in automated manufacturing or system integration (food/beverage or industrial)
- Experience in designing automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA)
- Strong understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A)
- Knowledge of instrumentation and controls (I&C) and engineering documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, SOPs)
- Experience with field instrumentation, installation, and configuration
- Familiarity with machine safety, electrical power distribution, and control panel design
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
- Willingness to travel for project requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or similar (preferred)
