Overview

As an Electrical Engineer/Designer at Jordan & Skala Engineers, you own electrical distribution and lighting design for new construction and renovations in multifamily and mixed-use projects. You will work within a technology-driven Revit/BIM workflow to produce coordinated documentation and support construction. You'll collaborate across disciplines to integrate life-safety, power, and electrical systems, helping shape skylines and neighborhoods. This role offers ongoing professional growth, licensure support, and exposure to a diverse project portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Design electrical distribution systems for new construction and renovations
  • Support lighting design including layouts and controls intent
  • Design fire alarm systems and coordinate with life safety requirements
  • Support standby generator system design and integration
  • Produce clear, coordinated electrical documentation for building projects
  • Develop design documents: plans, risers, schedules, details, wiring diagrams
  • Coordinate working drawings and wiring connection specs; underground/cable routing concepts
  • Support code/compliance and performance documentation (e.g., COMcheck, REScheck, FlaCom)
  • Coordinate electrical design with MEP and architectural teams in a BIM workflow
  • Support construction administration: submittals, RFIs, field observations/reports
  • Communicate with Owners, Contractors, Architects, and Authorities with cross-discipline understanding
Key requirements
  • Experience in electrical building systems design (consulting preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in Revit (electrical design within BIM)
  • Solid understanding of electrical design fundamentals, codes, and constructability
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
  • EIT or P.E. license (preferred)
  • Experience with design/analysis tools such as Visual, AGi32, SKM Power Tools
  • Familiarity with COMcheck, REScheck, and FlaCom (preferred)
