Overview In this role you will lead site civil design within HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, shaping facility-related sites across diverse markets. You collaborate with a multidiscipline team from planning through construction, delivering high-quality designs that support sustainability and human experience. You'll act as Engineer of Record on complex projects and drive coordination with jurisdictions, clients, and subconsultants. This position offers the chance to influence critical infrastructure and advance HDR's mission of engineering impact.
Responsibilities- Develop civil scope of work and budgets for proposals
- Serve as Engineer of Record on complex projects
- Coordinate with internal and external resources for due diligence and documentation
- Create concept site layouts compliant with jurisdictional requirements and lead Pre-Application
- Coordinate with Authority Having Jurisdiction for design and submittal requirements
- Assist with community outreach within project scope
- Attend and contribute to client meetings
- Advance concept plans through schematic and construction design
- Coordinate with subconsultants for support and design services
- Produce plan sets, details, specifications, and cost estimates
- Perform site development calculations (stormwater, culvert/pipe capacity, hydrology)
- Author technically sound, well-organized reports
- Apply engineering judgment to determine best actions
- Manage time and multiple tasks/projects
- Communicate effectively with managers and team
- Seek efficiencies in workflows and operations
- Mentor junior staff and delegate tasks
- Be an advocate for HDR, BES, and Site Civil team
- Contribute to HDR's mission and BES vision
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 10 years design experience in civil/site design
- Professional Engineering license (PE or P.Eng)
- Project Engineering and Project Management experience
- Active participation in employee-owned culture
