Overview

In this Insurance Coverage Attorney role, you will analyze complex policies and draft coverage opinions for insurers, guiding high-value disputes. You will work within a national insurance coverage practice, collaborating with partners and cross-border teams. You will lead research, prepare litigation documents, and participate in depositions, mediations, and trials. The opportunity offers mentorship, exposure to significant matters, and a clear path to senior responsibility in a supportive, high-performing environment.

Compensation / Benefits
  • base salary $160,000-$275,000
  • bonus (performance-based) and monthly bonus (up to $2,000)

Responsibilities
  • Analyze insurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinions
  • Provide clear, actionable coverage recommendations for clients
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other tools
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials
  • Draft interrogatories, document requests, and responses
  • Review and analyze document collections in preparation for litigation
  • Engage in direct communication with domestic and international insurers
  • Collaborate with partners and team members to advance case objectives
Key requirements
  • JD from ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic record
  • Law Review and/or Honors required
  • Active California Bar in good standing (other bar admissions considered for seasoned candidates)
  • 3+ years of substantive litigation experience focusing on insurance coverage
  • Experience analyzing complex insurance policies
  • Ability to provide clear coverage recommendations
  • Experience drafting litigation-related documents
  • Experience participating in depositions and mediations
  • Familiarity with bad faith claims, CGL, commercial property, E&O, and D&O
  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
