Overview In this role you lead end-to-end mainframe modernization programs, shaping strategy, planning, and delivery across legacy systems. You work with clients and internal teams to ensure governance, security, and performance during migrations. You'll mentor consultants and oversee technical execution to drive successful modernization. This position offers a chance to influence how mainframes are modernized and integrated with cloud and DevOps practices at scale. You will bring deep domain expertise to solve complex modernization challenges.
Responsibilities- Define modernization roadmap and approach (replatforming, refactoring, rehosting)
- Lead assessment and modernization of Mainframe applications
- Coordinate with client stakeholders and internal teams for governance and delivery
- Ensure compliance, security, and performance standards during assessment and migration
- Mentor consultants and oversee technical execution
Key requirements- Expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, Assembler
- Experience leading mainframe modernization assessment
- Experience executing a mainframe modernization project
- Experience with modernization tools (Micro Focus, BluAge, Heirloom) including AI/GenAI tooling/use case
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- 15+ years in mainframe technologies and 6+ years in modernization projects with leadership responsibilities
