Overview

In this role you will deliver legal guidance on proposals, procurement, contracting strategies, and day-to-day program execution for the Maritime Division. You will specialize in government contracts law, FAR and DFARS, data rights, and software contracting, collaborating with customers, outside counsel, and internal teams. As part of a fast-growing deal team, you'll handle complex matters and help deploy path-making technology into operational settings. You'll contribute across licensing, bids, litigation, IP, compliance, and employment issues, driving strategic government contracts growth.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal review and guidance on proposals, procurement, contracting strategies, and program execution for the Maritime Division
  • Support business development and legal operations to capture new government contracts and expand existing ones
  • Manage relationships with procurement offices at government agencies and maintain high-trust interactions
  • Oversee acquisitions lifecycle, evaluate major proposals, negotiate terms, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Handle licensing and services agreements, bid protests, litigation, IP, compliance, and employment matters
  • Develop software contracting approaches for DoD deployments and negotiate with contracting officers and program counsel
  • Represent the legal team in interactions with outside counsel, vendors, engineers, executives, customers, and regulators
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of experience on U.S. government contracts matters
  • Understanding of government procurement process, contract vehicles, software acquisition approaches, and data rights
  • Ability to own multiple projects end-to-end and make risk-adjusted decisions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Quick learner and able to contribute to broader start-up legal function (IP, litigation, financing, securities, compliance, employment)
  • Licensed to practice law in CA or D.C.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
