Technical & Transactional Accounting Manager

Overview

As a Technical Accounting Manager, you will lead specialized accounting advisory for diverse, high-growth clients in technology, biotech, professional services, and consumer products. You will act as the primary client contact, guiding complex financial reporting and ASC/IFRS matters, and work closely with audit firms to ensure high-quality deliverables. You'll mentor staff, drive efficient processes, and contribute to thought leadership. This role offers hybrid work near San Francisco with opportunities to shape client solutions and grow the advisory practice.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical accounting advisory projects for clients and external audits (ASC 606, ASC 842, equity transactions, debt arrangements, business combinations, lease accounting, SEC reporting)
  • Serve as primary client contact, manage engagements, and nurture client relationships
  • Identify high-risk accounting areas by building deep client business knowledge
  • Oversee timelines, deliverables, and communications to ensure successful outcomes
  • Produce written components of reports and deliverables
  • Research technical accounting topics relevant to engagements
  • Train and mentor staff to promote technical excellence and growth
  • Identify and implement technology solutions to streamline workflows
  • Contribute to thought leadership, internal knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement
  • Support business development through client relationships and networking
Key requirements
  • CPA, CFA, CIA, CISA, or CISSP certification
  • BA/BBA/BS in Accounting, Finance or business-related field
  • U.S. CPA certification
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Significant technical accounting experience with strong U.S. GAAP knowledge
  • IPO readiness or direct IPO experience desirable
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional firms preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and client service quality
  • Tech-savvy with willingness to adopt new technologies
