VP, Learning & Development Manager

Overview

In this leadership role, you will oversee day-to-day L&D operations and mentor the training team. You'll partner with the L&D team and stakeholders to shape an annual training plan aligned to strategic objectives. You will sponsor leadership development and manage program design, budgets, and vendor contracts. The position involves coordinating with multiple bank locations and driving impact through effective training solutions. This is a strategic, people-focused role with opportunities to influence organizational growth and learning culture.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver the annual L&D training plan aligned to business objectives
  • Manage and coach the L&D team with regular meetings and feedback
  • Gather stakeholder feedback annually to improve courses
  • Create training modules for specific business unit needs
  • Set up project plans and timetables; facilitate leadership and other courses with HR
  • Prepare the annual L&D budget and monitor expenditures
  • Manage vendor contracts and procurement related to training
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define effective training solutions
Key requirements
  • College degree in communications/training or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Learning & Development (financial institution preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of training program delivery and adult learning
  • Analytical, planning, program design and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel to Bank locations (in-state and out-of-state)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams
  • Public speaking experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Chinese and/or Vietnamese is a plus
  • Understanding of training program design, needs assessment and leadership training
  • Strong consultancy and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to engage with all management levels including executives
  • Judgment in decision-making impacting department and bank
  • Experience with Learning Management System usage
  • Procurement and contract management capabilities
