Overview In this role you will manage the real estate appraisal team within Cohen & Co's Valuation & Litigation practice. You'll work on a wide mix of commercial properties across the U.S. and select international engagements, shaping processes as the team scales. You will collaborate with assurance and tax stakeholders, and contribute to business development and practice growth. Responsibilities- Perform cost, sales comparison, and income approach analyses for commercial property valuations
- Conduct site inspections and analyze market conditions to support defensible conclusions
- Prepare appraisal reports compliant with USPAP and Appraisal Institute standards
- Lead data validation and quality control of third-party appraisals
- Collaborate with assurance and tax teams to support engagements
- Contribute to business development and shape valuation processes and tools
- Support the growth and evolution of the expanding practice
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 5+ years of combined real estate appraisal and/or public accounting experience
- Licensed real estate appraiser in at least one state
- Active progress toward the MAI designation (ideally 50% through Appraisal Institute coursework)
- Strong knowledge of cost, sales comparison, and income approaches to value
- Ability to transition between projects with ease
