Overview In this role you will ensure accurate state and local gross receipts and related tax filings for both regulated and non-regulated segments. You will analyze receivables, revenue data, and journal entries to prepare returns and maintain timely, compliant submissions. You will collaborate with Accounting, AP, Treasury, and Audit to resolve issues and implement new tax requirements. This position offers impact through accurate tax budgeting and process improvements in a large, data-driven environment.
Responsibilities- File and review State and Local Gross Receipts Tax, State & Local Excise Tax, NYC Commercial Rent Tax and PUC Levy returns for Regulated and Non-Regulated Companies.
- Analyze data from Accounts Receivable, Revenue Accounting, and Corporate Accounting to support tax return preparation.
- Ensure filings are accurate and timely per laws, regulations, judgments, and rulings.
- Investigate new return requirements, EDI and EFT obligations from authorities.
- Prepare journal entries for Gross Receipts Tax accruals and reconcile tax liability accounts.
- Coordinate issue resolution with Processing, Accounts Payable, and Treasury.
- Assist Audit, Tax Technology and other departments as needed; perform special projects.
- Respond to internal and external data/assessment requests promptly to minimize penalties.
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, related field or equivalent experience
- State and local tax compliance experience with emphasis on state tax laws and regulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Access
