Overview

In this role you will lead Medtronic's global trade legal and compliance efforts, guiding the enterprise on export controls, sanctions, and related regulatory matters. You will partner with cross-functional teams to shape and implement the global trade program and support business initiatives. You will advise on complex issues, due diligence for M&A, and training to mitigate risk across regions. This position offers a strategic, influential role within a global team and a chance to impact how Medtronic navigates international trade in healthcare. Responsibilities
  • Provide global trade legal guidance aligned with business initiatives
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement guidance across regions
  • Develop, implement, and update the trade compliance program (EAR, OFAC, export controls, sanctions, licensing, screening, anti-boycott)
  • Collaborate with enterprise and regional teams to mitigate global trade risks
  • Support export program activities and serve as SME for trade compliance
  • Provide legal support for trade-related litigation, investigations, and disclosures
  • Conduct trade compliance due diligence for M&A and business development
  • Develop and deliver training on global trade compliance requirements
  • Identify and mitigate cross-business trade risks and facilitate information sharing
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized law school
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one state
  • 8+ years of experience with global trade legal and compliance programs
  • 10+ years of experience preferred
  • Experience with change management or process efficiency (Lean Sigma) is a plus
  • Experience in healthcare/medical device industry is a plus
  • Project/program management experience is a plus
