Overview As Payroll Director you lead a high-volume, multi-entity payroll operation across North America and Latin America, ensuring accurate and timely processing within regulatory frameworks. You will guide a team, drive improvements, and partner with Finance, HR, Tax, and vendors to support organizational goals. You'll balance compliance with efficiency, implementing payroll technologies and KPIs to measure service delivery. This role plays a pivotal part in scaling payroll functions to support growth and union environments. You will shape payroll strategy in a global, fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple companies and entities across several regions
- Manage payroll workflow, service delivery, and compliance decisions
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Operations on union negotiations and CBAs
- Provide guidance on federal/state/local wage, hour, and living wage requirements
- Implement and optimize payroll systems for timely processing of salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions
- Establish KPIs and SLAs for payroll operations
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, garnishments, and reporting
- Oversee multi-state payroll tax filings, unemployment reporting, and year-end processes (W-2)
- Monitor regulatory changes and update processes accordingly
- Reconcile payroll accounts and align with Finance and GL
- Manage payroll accruals, labor distributions, and HRIS/ERP integrations
- Lead performance management and development of payroll team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 10+ years of progressive payroll leadership
- 5+ years in large-scale, multi-state payroll environments
- FPC and/or CPP certification preferred
- Experience managing payroll for 10,000+ employees
- Extensive knowledge of payroll administration, tax compliance, and reporting
- Understanding of federal/state/local payroll regulations
- Experience in a unionized environment and prevailing wage administration
- Discretion with confidential information
- Advanced Excel and MS Office skills
- Hands-on experience with SAP, ADP, Workday, UKG, Oracle, Ceridian
