Senior Debt Finance Attorney (Partner / Counsel)

Overview

In this role you lead sophisticated debt finance transactions within a growing, entrepreneurial finance practice. You will handle cross-border and complex lending deals, advising borrowers, lenders and private credit funds with autonomy and direct client exposure. You'll shape the financing platform, mentor junior attorneys, and contribute to firm growth in a collaborative, partner-led environment. This is a high-impact opportunity for a senior attorney to advance to partnership while expanding a premier debt finance franchise.

Responsibilities
  • Lead complex debt finance transactions from origination through closing
  • Structure, negotiate, and document secured and unsecured lending facilities
  • Advise on bespoke private credit and direct lending transactions
  • Negotiate credit agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements and related finance documents
  • Coordinate multi-jurisdictional transactions and manage transaction teams
  • Advise on transaction structuring, execution strategy and risk allocation
  • Manage client relationships as a trusted commercial adviser
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys
  • Support business development and contribute to growth of the Finance practice
Key requirements
  • Significant debt finance experience at a mid-sized or large law firm
  • Extensive experience independently leading secured lending and private credit transactions
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for complex finance documentation
  • Experience managing sophisticated borrower and lender-side mandates
  • Excellent commercial judgement and technical ability
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset with interest in growing a practice
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active admission to the New York Bar (or eligibility)
  • Senior-level experience in Debt Finance, Leveraged Finance, Banking & Finance or Private Credit
  • Experience working with sophisticated financial institutions, private credit funds or corporate borrowers
  • Client relationship management
