Overview As an O&M Substation Specialist you will provide technical support for substation maintenance and emergency field responses, guiding maintenance planning and estimating. You will be the technical lead for substation operations within the Substation O&M team, collaborating with cross-functional operations and project managers. The role focuses on ensuring safe, compliant maintenance and supporting related power generation and storage systems, including solar and BESS. Responsibilities- Provide technical support and oversight to substation maintenance activities
- Develop maintenance schedules and estimates for substations and other technologies
- Provide emergency onsite field support and oversee repairs/remediation
- Act as the substation technical lead for Substation Operation and Maintenance
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards
- Support testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of substation systems
- Provide technical support for solar and battery energy storage systems
- Oversee estimating of substation maintenance and BOP activities
- Provide technical and onsite oversight in emergency situations
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians in substation OPS execution
Key requirements- 9-12 years of experience in Substations and Distribution Systems Operations & Maintenance
- Experience estimating commissioning and maintenance activities
- Competent in equipment troubleshooting, protection and control systems, SCADA
- Experience with testing protocols and test equipment
- At least 5 years in transmission and distribution substations
- Strong leadership, communication, and project execution skills
- Ability to coach and develop team members
- Strong maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution understanding
- Understanding of construction and constructability practices
- Ability to travel and perform field/site oversight in emergencies
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
