Overview As a Grant-Funded Community Coordinator & Interventionist, you will serve as a local liaison to promote the Neqpiaput Iinruugut Research Study and align with the YKHC Health Research Department and stakeholders. You will engage Elders, tribal councils, and community members to advance health education and behavior change. The role involves event planning, cross-group coordination, and using technology to track and improve outcomes. This position emphasizes culturally grounded outreach in sub-arctic communities and requires strong public speaking and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities- Promote the Neqpiaput Iinruugut Research Study in the local community
- Engage Elders and organize community events to support health topics and behavior change
- Coordinate among tribal councils, community partners, and study staff
- Communicate with individuals and small groups to share guidance on health topics
- Use technology to track, report, and improve program activities
- Travel within sub-arctic conditions as needed
- Represent the study with community stakeholders and maintain relationships
- Facilitate Elder-guided Calricaraq activities and workshop sessions
- Maintain knowledge of local community dynamics and language considerations
Key requirements- Member of the community and resident where activities occur
- Bilingual in Yupik and English
- Able to organize events and coordinate among groups
- Willing to use technology for tracking and reporting
- High school level education or equivalent preferred
- Experience in community work or health education, Calricaraq preferred
- Calricaraq facilitator training certificate required within the first year
- Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills
- Knowledge of local community; Yup'ik proficiency a significant advantage
