Overview In this role you will serve as the outsourced Controller for multiple nonprofit clients, guiding financial operations and strategic reporting. You help transform client finance functions, drive internal controls, and support decision-making with accurate reporting and forecasting. You'll collaborate with boards and finance committees, shaping best practices in nonprofit accounting. This position blends hands-on accounting with leadership across several client engagements.

Responsibilities- Serve as outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple nonprofit clients
- Transform client financial departments to support mission goals
- Prepare financial reporting for management and boards
- Improve accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance policies
- Oversee transactional activities including A/P, A/R, payroll, month-end close, and reconciliations
- Conduct budgeting/forecasting, data analysis, and visualization
- Manage grant allocations and funder reporting
- Prepare for and manage annual audits
- Provide client and staff training opportunities
Key requirements- 5-7+ years of accounting experience
- Experience in remote work environment preferred
- Ability to manage multiple clients and work independently
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with multiple GL packages, especially QuickBooks, and electronic bill pay systems
- Sage Intacct experience is a plus
- Nonprofit accounting/public accounting/consulting experience a plus
- CPA certification is a plus
- Bilingual-English/Spanish is a plus
