Overview In this role you guide managers and staff on employee relations, ensuring policy compliance and fair, objective handling of matters. You will lead complex workplace investigations, including Title IX matters, and prepare comprehensive reports and statements for external agencies. You'll collaborate with HR to implement strategies, coach leadership, and support organizational behavior and policy initiatives. The position offers opportunities to influence decisions across leadership levels and manage high impact projects. A key hook is being the main Title IX Investigator and a trusted advisor who minimizes legal risk while advancing a positive employee relations culture.
Responsibilities- Conduct complex internal investigations on potential misconduct and policy violations (e.g., discrimination, sexual harassment, incivility)
- Serve as the campus Title IX Investigator and prepare fact-finding reports
- Draft Position Statements for state/federal complaints (e.g., MCAD, EEOC)
- Lead major/complex employee relations projects and guide assigned staff/consultants
- Advise managers and employees to promote positive employee relations
- Maintain relationships with managers to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Propose resolutions for highly sensitive employee relations matters
- Interpret and apply policies, laws, and regulations to employment decisions
- Coach leaders on performance management processes
- Function as Adjudication Officer for new hire background checks
- Ensure consistency in a matrixed environment
- Conduct exit interviews
- Use HR metrics to identify trends and develop proactive solutions
- Minimize legal risk by ensuring policy compliance
- Participate in employee training and maintain HR tracking systems
- Collaborate with HR services to deliver solutions and excellent service
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- JD or equivalent experience
- Five years of employee relations experience including complex investigations
- Experience writing comprehensive investigation reports
- Ability to influence management with credible HR guidance
- Coaching and counseling experience on employment issues
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Credibility and integrity in communications
- Conflict resolution, mediation, facilitation
- Team player with customer focus
- MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), PeopleSoft and HRIS
