Overview In this role you will help shape eBay's People and Payroll technology ecosystem, with Workday HCM as the system of record. You'll partner across Global Payroll, People Operations, Finance, IT, Security, and external vendors to translate business needs into scalable solutions that improve payroll operations, data quality, and employee experience. You'll drive integrations, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities to support a future-ready payroll platform. This hybrid role combines hands-on delivery with roadmap influence from Salt Lake City or Austin. You'll work to balance compliance, usability, and technical feasibility while advancing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities- Act as a product-focused technology collaborator for the People and Payroll ecosystem, with Workday HCM as the system of record
- Contribute to the payroll technology roadmap balancing business priorities, UX, compliance, and feasibility
- Lead initiatives for payroll processes including vendor integrations, data interfaces, tax and compliance interfaces, and year-end readiness
- Build, test, and support secure, scalable integrations between Workday and payroll providers with IT and external vendors
- Translate requirements into user stories, workflows, solution builds, and success metrics
- Develop and support APIs, Workday web services, middleware, and integration frameworks
- Exploit automation, AI, and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Workday Extend, Sana Agent Builder) to improve operations
- Contribute to custom applications via Workday Extend when needed
- Create reports, dashboards, and data validations to enhance accuracy and visibility
- Provide production support, root-cause analysis, and scalable corrective actions
- Support releases, testing, deployment planning, and post-production validation
- Ensure solutions meet enterprise architecture, security, privacy, and governance standards
- Support change management, training, and adoption of new payroll capabilities
- Participate in internal audits, SOX controls, and data privacy assessments
- Maintain functional and technical documentation and integration inventories
- Stay updated on Workday and AI advancements and assess relevance to the ecosystem
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources, or Business
- 3-5 years of hands-on HRIS/payroll tech or related experience
- 3+ years supporting Workday HCM, including payroll processes, integrations, or configuration
- Experience partnering with payroll vendors and cross-functional tech teams
- Solid understanding of payroll processes, master data, and HR/payroll integrations
- Experience gathering requirements and translating into scalable technical solutions
- Experience with enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware, Workday Studio, EIB, Workday web services, or similar technologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities, able to relay technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Understanding of payroll regulations, SOX controls, data privacy, and information security
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced global environment
