Overview

In this role you support the Trust Officer in administering accounts for high-net-worth families, acting as a trusted fiduciary partner. You collaborate with Trust, Tax, and Counsel teams to set up and manage trust records, distributions, and tax reporting, while proactively addressing client needs. You participate in risk management and oversee processes across operational groups to minimize issues. Responsibilities
  • Open trust accounts with the Account Opening Group
  • Interpret governing instruments and laws to set up records, fees, and tax records
  • Explain procedures to beneficiaries and co-trustees
  • Support client meetings with the Trust Officer and respond to client needs
  • Coordinate with Tax Officers and counsel on tax matters (income, gift, estate, generation-skipping)
  • Process discretionary distributions and prepare memoranda for discretionary decisions
  • Seek co-trustee approvals and communicate decisions to clients
  • Manage day-to-day administration and minimize service/operational issues
  • Oversee work of operational groups and monitor risk using risk tools
  • Participate in departmental projects and committees
  • Assist in terminating trusts and transferring accounts to Settlement group
  • Develop relationships with beneficiaries, co-trustees, and intermediaries
  • Commit to ongoing training on systems, practices, and regulatory developments
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years' experience in the trust and estates industry
  • Experience with administration and support of trusts; understanding of fiduciary products, legal, tax, and investments
  • Problem Solving/Risk Management skills; initiative and accountability
  • Client Servicing and proactive communication
  • Teamwork, time management, adaptability, coaching and training abilities
  • Cross selling and retention skills
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with trust accounting system
  • Prior corporate trustee experience a plus
