Overview As a Reporter/MMJ at KTXL-FOX40, you will develop broad-appeal, enterprise content daily while pursuing deeper, investigative stories. You will deliver compelling live coverage of breaking news and severe weather, shaping stories with credible sources and strong editorial judgment. Collaborating with a fast-paced newsroom, you'll engage audiences across broadcasts and social platforms. This role offers impact through investigative reporting, cross-functional teamwork, and community-focused storytelling.
Responsibilities- Report news stories for broadcast with context and background
- Build and manage a network of sources to stay ahead of competitors
- Research topics, vet tips for credibility, gather information for broadcast and publication
- Arrange and conduct interviews, shoot video, edit packages (VO/SOTs)
- Review copy for accuracy, style, and grammar following editorial guidelines
- Pitch stories to diverse audiences while considering targeted segments
- Collaborate with station personnel to promote teamwork and effective workflows
- Engage viewers on social media to build engagement and brand
- Perform special projects and attend public events or community initiatives
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience
- Fluency in English
- Excellent oral and written communication with strong ad-lib ability
- Minimum three years' experience in news reporting
- Superior on-air presence
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
- Social media expertise
- Knowledge of newsgathering technology including cameras, editing equipment, and newsroom systems
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
- Flexibility to work any shift
